The difference between a song class and vocal training shows up in the third year. One child has a longer list of songs; the other can take a raga they were given this morning and sing something of their own in it. The second takes a mentor who has stood on a stage and knows what the music demands.
Bahrain is home to the Shrinathji temple in Manama, around two hundred years old and one of the oldest Hindu temples in the Gulf, built by Sindhi and Gujarati merchant families who are still there.
