Craft Classes in New York
Making things with their hands, not just pictures
A drawing either looks right or it does not. A made object also has to stand up, hold together and survive being carried to school, which is a far more honest teacher. Craft gives a child a result they can hold, and a failure whose cause they can see immediately.

Making things with their hands, not just pictures
Painting and drawing train the eye on a flat surface. Craft trains the hands in three dimensions — scoring before folding, letting glue set, judging where a structure will give. Children who find drawing frustrating often thrive here, because the feedback is physical and instant rather than a matter of opinion.
New York holds several Indian communities at once: Jackson Heights and Flushing in Queens, where the Ganesh temple has stood since 1977; Richmond Hill, home to a large Indo-Caribbean community of Guyanese and Trinidadian heritage; and the Long Island suburbs around Hicksville. The children differ, and so do the starting points, and mentors take that seriously from the first class.
Fine motor control built through making, not through worksheets
Everyday materials, so nothing is unavailable when they want to make more
Indian craft forms taught alongside general making
Something finished and holdable at the end of nearly every class

Arts & Painting runs in person at our arts studio in Jayanagar, Bengaluru, and, like every class of ours, at our HSR Layout centre, 243, 16th Main Road, Sector 3, HSR Layout, Bengaluru 560102. Both use the same mentors and the same curriculum as the online batches. Families outside Bengaluru take the online batches, which cover the identical curriculum.
Three simple steps to begin
1. Tell us about your child
Call or WhatsApp us and say where your child is starting from. For craft classes that matters — the mentor pitches the first class to what they can already do.
2. Personal guidance from a mentor
A real, live class, not a sales call. The mentor works with your child for the full session and then tells you honestly whether this is the right class of ours for them.
3. Pick a slot that survives the school week
We place your child in a batch built for ET. Weekday 6:30 to 8:00 PM Eastern and Saturday morning Eastern, which is the Indian evening.
“Living in California, we worried our kids would lose their roots. The online Shloka and Gita classes changed that. They chant every morning now, and understand what the words mean.”
Craft Classes in New York, FAQs
Art and painting work on a flat surface with colour and composition. Craft makes objects, so the skills are structural — a child can be strong at one and quite ordinary at the other.
