Online Painting Classes for Kids in Houston
Painting classes where colour is taught as a craft
Painting is where most children’s art goes wrong, because nobody teaches them what colour actually does. They are handed a set and told to fill in. This class starts at the wheel: what mixes, what turns muddy, why a wash behaves differently from a flat fill, and how to layer without losing the drawing underneath.

Painting classes where colour is taught as a craft
Painting is not colouring in a finished outline. We spend the first weeks on the drawing beneath the paint, because a well-painted bad drawing is still a bad drawing. Children who arrive able to fill in neatly usually find this the hardest and most useful adjustment.
Houston’s Indian community is one of the largest in the South, built over decades by families in energy, medicine and engineering, and anchored by institutions like the Sri Meenakshi Temple in Pearland, one of the oldest Hindu temples in the country. Children here often have temple life well covered; parents come to us for the pronunciation and meaning a weekend festival cannot give.
Wash, wet-on-wet and layering technique, not flat filling
The drawing under the paint taken seriously first
Traditional Indian palettes alongside the standard wheel
Finished paintings, not exercises, from the first term
Batch timings for Houston
Live classes on CT, scheduled around your week rather than ours.
Weekday 6:00 to 7:30 PM Central and Saturday morning Central. Houston shares Central time with Dallas and Chicago, and children from the three cities usually sit together.
Sugar Land, Katy, Pearland, Missouri City and Cypress are where most Indian families in greater Houston live.
What your child walks away able to do
Mixing an intended colour deliberately rather than by luck
Controlled watercolour washes and clean layering
A sense of which medium suits which subject

Arts & Painting runs in person at our arts studio in Jayanagar, Bengaluru, and, like every class of ours, at our HSR Layout centre, 243, 16th Main Road, Sector 3, HSR Layout, Bengaluru 560102. Both use the same mentors and the same curriculum as the online batches. Families outside Bengaluru take the online batches, which cover the identical curriculum.
Three simple steps to begin
1. Tell us about your child
Call or WhatsApp us and say where your child is starting from. For online painting classes for kids that matters — the mentor pitches the first class to what they can already do.
2. Personal guidance from a mentor
A real, live class, not a sales call. The mentor works with your child for the full session and then tells you honestly whether this is the right class of ours for them.
3. Pick a slot that survives the school week
We place your child in a batch built for CT. Weekday 6:00 to 7:30 PM Central and Saturday morning Central.
“Timezone was our biggest worry. Smriti Samskara made it effortless, the Mahabharata class fits perfectly into our London evenings, and the storytelling quality is simply exceptional.”
Online Painting Classes for Kids in Houston, FAQs
Both, in that order. Exercises for the first few weeks, because mixing has to be learned somewhere, then complete paintings from the first term onward with something finished for the family showcase.
