A general moral-stories class asks what the right thing to do was. The Panchatantra more often asks what the clever thing was, and those are not always the same answer — which is exactly why children argue about it. We teach the tales as the argument they are, and the frame structure as a storytelling technique the child can then use themselves.
Oman’s link with India is centuries old — Kutchi and Gujarati trading families settled in Muscat long before the oil era, and the Motishwar Shiva temple there is more than a hundred years old.
