Yoga for Weight Loss in South Africa

A yoga habit you keep long enough for it to matter

Most weight-loss plans fail at the same point: week four, when motivation has worn off and the routine has not yet become a habit. This class is built around that problem. Dynamic Surya Namaskar rounds and strength-building flows make it a genuinely active session, and a fixed live batch with a mentor who notices when you are missing is what keeps you practising month after month.

Why families choose us

A yoga habit you keep long enough for it to matter

Crash workouts and “lose 5 kilos in 10 days” yoga videos promise fast numbers and leave sore knees and broken streaks. Yoga does not melt weight away, and we will not pretend it does. What it can do is give you regular movement you enjoy, more strength, and calmer habits around stress, sleep and eating, all alongside sensible food and your doctor’s advice.

South Africa’s Indian community began arriving in 1860 as indentured labourers in the Natal sugar fields, and Durban is still the largest Indian-origin city outside Asia. Families here are often fifth generation or more; Tamil, Telugu and Hindi-speaking roots survive in temple life and festivals, but the Sanskrit underneath has frequently gone quiet, and parents come to us to bring it back.

Timings

Batch timings for South Africa

Live classes on SAST, scheduled around your week rather than ours.

South Africa is three and a half hours behind India and does not use daylight saving, so the gap never moves. Weekday 4:30 to 6:30 PM SAST is 8:00 to 10:00 PM in India, and Saturday morning batches run too.

Most Indian South African families live in Durban and the wider KwaZulu-Natal, with significant communities in Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Getting started is easy

Three simple steps to begin

1. Tell us who the class is for

Call or WhatsApp us and say who is joining and where they are starting from. For yoga for weight loss that matters — the mentor pitches the first class to their age, body and experience.

2. Personal guidance from a mentor

A real, live class, not a sales call. The mentor works with you for the full session and then tells you honestly whether this is the right class and batch of ours.

3. Pick a slot that fits your week

We place you in a batch scheduled for SAST, around work, family and daily routine rather than across them.

“Living in California, we worried our kids would lose their roots. The online Shloka and Gita classes changed that. They chant every morning now, and understand what the words mean.”

Questions

Yoga for Weight Loss in South Africa, FAQs

We do not promise a number. Weight depends on food, sleep, stress, health and activity together. Yoga can be a valuable, sustainable part of that picture, and consistency matters far more than any single class.
